Inspiration: Memories of Midwest winters. As a child, I treasured alone time in nature, carefully tiptoeing over the brittle ice clinging to the stream’s bank. Remembering orange bellies of bluegill that flitted near the surface in the summers. I recreate these memories using beeswax to mimic biomorphic movement and patterns. I use earth pigments to represent reflections of sunbeams, mineral-rich Illinois earth, and life-giving moss.
