About the Event
During this 2-day workshop students will learn the “Soup-to-Nuts” of encaustic painting.
“Painting with Fire” to create extraordinary artwork is available to anyone with the desire to experiment and requires no previous experience. Use a blow torch or heat gun to melt layers of natural beeswax to birch panel to create beautifully unique creations.
This ancient technique is luminous due to its translucent quality yet has the ability to become highly textured, used as a surface for embedding objects, applied over photographs, carved into and much more. It is unique to other mediums and requires specific equipment and temperature control methods which will be covered thoroughly.
Guests will leave with a professional understanding of encaustic techniques and a plethora of paintings, from experimental panels to finished works, ready to hang. And it's super fun!
This session is perfect for beginners or a refresher for novices. Bring a friend and receive a “mini-Penny” encaustic piece!
