Encaustic Workshops near Serenbe, Georgia

I'm thrilled to offer three, full-day encaustic painting workshops near Serenbe Farms, south of Atlanta this summer. Perfect for beginners or experienced artists. Learn the ancient Egyptian art of encaustic painting at - CENTER, a venue created by my mentor, renown artist, Tom Swanston. 

I will demonstrate and guide guests in learning a plethora of techniques using beeswax and a blow torch. Experiment with layering, fusing, carving, texture building, tinting and  more. I thoroughly cover safety and nuances of tools and equipment, guiding guests in creating several art pieces in a easy-going yet professional and exciting setting.

10am-4pm with lunch break in Serenbe village or BYO

All materials provided (a $150 savings vs buying your own supplies)

Introduction to Encaustic Painting - 6/27/24

Learn to "Paint with Fire" with Penny as she shares the ancient Egyptian technique of encaustic painting in this upbeat full-day workshop where she'll share her personal techniques and guide you in creating luscious works of art. Perfect for any creative, beginners or advanced artists desiring more experience.

Photography + Encaustic Painting - 7/19/24

Bring your photographic prints to life with beeswax, pigments and mixed media. Inkjet prints of family, pets, or self-portraits are perfect and landscape or seascape images are sublime. Apply multiple layers of wax to achieve a "smokey/dreamlike" look or add texture and built a sculptural effect. After registering, email Penny to discuss ideas for your photo encaustic piece and printing. (Penny will print your image if you do not have the capability)

Landscape + Encaustic Painting - 8/15/24

Encaustic painting is one of the most forgiving painting mediums eliciting luscious effects as the blow torch melds pigmented wax into ethereal landscapes. It has the ability to appear opaque, thick and sculptural or transparent, ethereal and whispery. This medium is perfect for creating representational or abstract landscapes almost effortlessly while using Penny’s unique methods.
